How to install the Ventrilo client on your PC

After you download ventrilo, locate the .exe file and double click it. The onscreen instructions of the Ventrilo client will walk your through the setup. At this time there will be no configuration to connect to a ventrilo voice server.

How to configure your Ventrilo client to connect

After downloading and installing Ventrilo, you’ll want to follow these directions:

1. Open the Ventrilo program by clicking the Ventrilo Icon on your desktop.
2. Click the right arrow across from “User Name.”
3. Click the “New” button the “Setup User” window.
4. Enter your User name in the “Name” box.
5. Click the “OK” button.
6. Click the “OK” button the “Setup User” window. This should bring you to Ventrilo window.
7. Click the right arrow across from “Server.”
8. Click the “New” button.
9. Enter a name in the “Name” field and click “OK.”
10. In the “Hostname or IP” box you would enter the information provided by your Ventrilo Host. Examples: tx1.ugt-servers.com or 72.249.124.178
11. In the port number you would enter the information provided by your Ventrilo host. Example would be 3784.
12. Click the “OK” button.
13. Click the “Connect” button.

Ventrilo – How to determine the best location for you and your community!

With the speeds of the internet, this is not nearly as important as it once was. Ideally you would want to pick a centeralized location for your ventrilo voice server. If your community is spread across the United states, we recommend that you choose either our Chicago Ventrilo or Texas Ventrilo locations. These location are not only centeralized, but also very important hubs in the world of the internet. So when choosing your location, choose a location that best fits your communities needs.

How to configure your push to talk key in Ventrilo!

1. Open your Ventrilo client by clicking the icon on your desktop.
2. Click the “Setup” button on the right.
3. Towards the top left, put a check mark in the box next to “Use Push to Talk Hotkey.”
4. Left click the white box next to “Hotkey.” This will display, “Mouse:button 1.”
5. Now press the key you wish to use, for push to talk. I use the left control key.
6. Press the “OK” button on the bottom right.

How to get your community connected to your Ventrilo server!

After downloading the Ventrilo client, your community will need the following three things:

• DNS hostname or IP address to your Ventrilo server.
• Port number.
• Global password if one is set.

How to create channels and sub-channels in your Ventrillo Server!

1. Login to Ventrilo as admin.
2. Right click your server name. This is the top channel listed when you connect.
3. Go down to “Channel Admin” and click “Create.”
4. Fill and the “Display Name” field and the “Channel Password” field if you want to password protect the channel.
5. Click the “OK” button on the bottom.

If you wish to create a sub-channel, start by right clicking the channel you wish to add a sub-channel to. After that, you should be able to follow the directions above, starting with step 3.
